A pure substance consist only of one element or on compound.a mixtures consist of two r more different substances ,not chemically joined together.

Pure substances :

  • The substances which are made of only one kind of atoms or molecules are known as pure substances. For example Elements and compounds.

Properties of pure substances :

  • Pure substances have fixed melting and boiling points.

  • Addition of  impurities will change the melting and boiling points of pure substances.  

Mixture :

  • Materials that contain different substances physically mixed in any ratio are called mixtures.  For example : Air

Properties of mixture :

  • Mixture is not pure substances.

  • Mixture do not have fixed melting and boiling points.
