Put some dried pulses seed in plenty water and leave them from some time what will you observe

You will observe after sometime that the seeds have swollen due to entering of water inside the seed due to osmosis. You can observe this phenomenon when you cook lentils etc. We usually soak it for sometime before cooking it.
