PVC ( Polyvinyl chloride ) :

It is prepared by the polymerisation of Vinyl chloride . It is also a thermoplastic. PVC has highly hardness, PVC is chemically resistant to acids , bases, And alcohols that's why it is used in sewage piping. PVC is a polymer , and acts as a good insulator..But, it's heat stability is very poor.

uses

» used for making soles of shoes.
» used for covering electric wires as insulators.
» used for making sanitary fittings.

Bakelite :

Bakelite is a thermosetting polymer. once set into shape , Bakelite does not melt / soften and retain it's shape . It is an Insulator.

uses

» used for making electrical switches, and plugs.
» used for making Combs, fountain pen bodies, phonograph records.
» used for making gear wheels and table top laminates.
