Answer:

Let us assume an artificial satellite, which is moving in a circular orbit of radius 42250 km covers a distance ‘s’ as it revolve around earth with speed ‘v’ in given time ‘t’ of 24 hours.= 42250

Radius of circular orbit r

Time taken by artificial satellite t=24 hours

Distance covered by satellite s =Circumference of circular orbit

 Speed of satellite v

= 3.073 km/s

Answer :

Given -

  • The radius of the orbit = 42250 km
  • Time = 42 hours

To Find -

  • The speed of the artificial satellite ?

Solution -

Finding the distance :

⇒ 2πr

⇒ 2*3.14*42250

⇒ 6.28*42250

265,330 km

We know, Speed = Distance/Time.

⇒ Speed = 265,330/24

⇒ Speed = 11,055.42 km/hr

⇒ Speed = 11,055.42*5/18

⇒ Speed = 55,277.1/18

⇒ Speed = 3,070.95 m/s

Hence, the speed of the artificial satellite = 11,055.42 km/hr and 3,070.95 m/s.
