Answer:

Igneous rocks- Basalt, Granite

Sedimentary rocks- Dolomite, Limestone

Metamorphic rocks- Slate

Explanation:

Igneous rocks are the rocks that are formed directly from the cooling and crystallization of magma. The rate of cooling is directly to its crystal size. For example, Basalt, Granite, Gabbro.

Sedimentary rocks are those that are formed from the compaction and lithification of sediments. For example, Sandstone, Limestone and Shale.

Metamorphic rocks are formed from either sedimentary, igneous or other metamorphic rocks due to the increasing temperature and pressure condition. For example, Quartzite, Marble and Gneiss.

The weathering refers to the breaking down of rock materials due to the factors such as temperature, rainfall and some other factors. It is mainly of 2 types. They are as follows-

(a) Physical weathering- It refers to the break down of rocks due to the physical factors. It occurs more frequently in cold and dry type of climates. For example, Freezing and thawing method, Exfoliation.

(b) Chemical weathering- It refers to the wearing away of rocks because of the presence of chemical substances. It takes place mostly in the warm and humid climates. For example, Hydrolysis and Dissolution process.

(c) Biological weathering- It refers to the break down of rocks due to biological activities. For example, Burrowing of animals.

In general, the Physical weathering processes are more dominant, compared to the other weathering processes.
