Question :-

Factorize the following by splitting the middle term

→ 4x² - 13x + 10

Solution :-

  • Using Splitting method

→ 4x² - 13x + 10 = 0

→ 4x² - 8x - 5x + 10 = 0

→ 4x (x-2) -5 (x-2) = 0

→ (4x-5) (x-2) = 0

→ 4x - 5 = 0

→ 4x = 5

x = 5/4

  • either

→ x - 2 = 0

→ x = 2

Hence :-

  • The factor of given polynomial are x = 5/4 , x = 2
