2x - 3y = 1----------(1)

5x + 4y = 14--------(2)

We know that,

Using the eliminations method :-

Multiple 4x equation (1) both side

Multiple 3x equation (2) both side

We get the equation,

8x - 12y = 4-------(3)

15x + 12y = 42-------(4)

Adding eqn (3) & (4)

8x - 12y = 4-------(3)

15x + 12y = 42-------(4)

+________+__________

23x = 46

x = 46/23

( x = 2)

Substitute the value of x in equation (2)

5x + 4y = 14

5(2) + 4y = 14

10 + 4y = 14

4y = 14 - 10

4y = 4

( y = 1 )
