The dipole moment of the ammonia molecule is 1.48 D.  The length of the dipole is 3.09 \times 10^{-13} m.

Explanation:

We known that relation between dipole moment and distance or length of dipole is as follows.

            \mu = q \times r

where,   \mu = dipole moment

               q = charge on the atoms = 1.6 \times 10^{-19}

                r = distance between the dipoles

It is known that,

             1 Debye = 3.35 \times 10^{-30} cm

or,       1.48 Debye = 1.48 \times 3.35 \times 10^{-30} cm

                              = 4.958 \times 10^{-30} cm

Now, putting the values into the above formula as follows.

              \mu = q \times r

    4.958 \times 10^{-30} cm = 1.6 \times 10^{-19} \times r

           r = 3.09 \times 10^{-11} cm

or,          = 3.09 \times 10^{-11} cm \times 0.01 m/cm

             = 3.09 \times 10^{-13} m
