Q.16. In the given figure PA and PB are tangents to the circle with PA = 14 cm. If CD is another tangent touching the circle at point E, then the perimeter of ∆PCD is-​

We know that:-

Tangent from an external point to a circle are equal,

∴ PA=PB -----eq (1)

∴ CA = CQ----eq(2)

∴DB=DQ--------eq(3)

From the figure  we know that

PA=PC+AC

PA=PC+QC [∵ from eq(2) we know that QC=AC]

Substituting the given values, we get

14=PC+3

PC= 11cm

Similarly we can find PB

PB=PD+DB

PB=PD+QD

14=PD+3

PD=11cm

So PC+PD= 11+11=22cm

So 22 cm is the our answer.
