Answer:

1) A pH indicator is a halochromic chemical compound added in small amounts to a solution so the pH of the solution can be determined visually. Hence, a pH indicator is a chemical detector for hydronium ions or hydrogen ions in the Arrhenius model.

2)The solution can be either a base or a neutral solution. Acidic solutions change blue litmus red, hence it is not acidic. Bases change red litmus to blue hence there is no change in colour of blue litmus paper. Neutral solutions have no effect on litmus paper.

3)Acids are substances that taste sour and are corrosive in nature. It turns blue litmus paper to red. E.g.:-orange juice, curd, vinegar, hydrochloric acid etc.

4)Indicators are chemical compounds that tell us whether a substance is acidic or basic by changing its colour. The indicators that are obtained from plants are known as natural indicators. Examples – Turmeric, china rosa, red cabbage and grape juice.

5)During indigestion (caused due to the production of excess of hydrochloric acid in the stomach), we administer an antacid (generally milk of magnesia,Mg(OH)2, which is basic in nature). The antacid neutralizes the excess of acids and thus gives relief from indigestion.

Answer:

Examples of acid-base indicators include litmus paper, phenolphthalein, and red cabbage juice. An acid-base indicator is a weak acid or weak base that dissociates in water to yield the weak acid and its conjugate base or else the weak base and its conjugate acid. The species and its conjugate have different colors.
