Swami Vivekanand & the Monkeys
On a fine evening, enjoying the sunset, Swami Vivekanand was walking along the bank of river Tunkabhadra in the Karnataka's Davangere district. Near the coastal regions of the river there stood a large tree of almost 200 years of age. The tree was inhabited by a group of golden monkeys who had a height of more than 1.5ft and were heavily built having extraordinary skills of climbing and chasing. The monkeys mostly spent their days over the tree but climb down the tree every evening to gather food and to rest. They didn't liked any intervein in their day's joy therefore they used to chase everyone who where present on the coast at evenings.
Swami Vivekanand was unware of the fact and thus went walking along the coast of the river in evening. Monkeys saw him approaching towards them and declared attack on Swami Vivekanand. On quick chase by fierceful monkeys, Swami Vivekanand got frightened and started running in the opposite direction in order to save his life.
On a few steps away from the coast there was a hut of an old man who was has retired from his jobs. He was well known from the monkeys' behaviour. On seeing Vivekanand being chased by monkeys, he stopped him and drove the monkey away. He then told Swami Vivekananda that these monkeys can do no harm to him if he is strong and bold towards them. He also added that one can easily win over these monkeys if he has self-confidence, is fearless and have the guts to face the monkeys.
On hearing the old man Swami Vivekanand stopped running and turned back with full courage. He walked towards the monkeys fearlessly. Firstly the monkeys tried to chase him away again but on seeing him fearless, they ran away. Swami Vivekananda thanked the old man and put forward his journey without the intrupsion of any monkeys.
Moral :- Be brave enough to face the challenges and consequences. Running out from them can't let you succeed. Have self-confidence and courage to fight with them fearlessly.
