     Supercomputers basically designed to perform large and complex mathematical computations.

        Mainframe computer is used for large database and serve as maximum number of user simultaeously.

2. Speed

     Super computer speed is more than mainframe computer. It can execute billions of instructions per second.            

       In mainframe computer, the speed is comparitively less than suer computer.In this millions of instuctions are executed simultaneously.

3.  Size and layout

      Super computer are the largest and have biggest layout in the world.        

      The mainframe computer as compare to super computer are smaller in size and layout.

4. Operating system

     The modern super computers have Linux operating system and derivative variants of Linux operating system.

     Mainframe computer has the ability to run multiple operating system. simultaneously.

  Super computers are the most costly in the world.

  Mainframe computers are less costly when compared with super computers.

6.Invention

  The super computer was invented by Seymour Cray.

  The first successful mainframe computers was invented by IBM.

7. Purpose

 Super computers are mostly purpose built for one or few institutional tasks.

 Mainframe computers are built to handle a large variety of task.
