Given:

The equation x + y = 1

To Find:

Area of the triangle formed by the given line, x-axis and y-axis.

Calculation:

- For the given equation of line, we have:

  • At x = 0, y = 1

  • At y = 0, x = 1

- So, the line cuts x-axis at (1,0) and y-axis at (0,1).

- Here a right angles triangle is formed with right angle at the origin (0,0).

- Length of base, B = √(1)² + (0)² = 1 unit

- Height, H = √(0)² + (1)² = 1 unit

- Area of triangle = 1/2 × Base × Height

⇒ A = 1/2 × 1 × 1

⇒ A = 0.5 Sq. units

- So, the area of the triangle bounded by x-axis, y-axis and x+y=1 is 0.5 sq. units.
