Q 2When ice at -10ºc is slowly heated, temperature of ice gradually increases till 0ºC, the temperature of system remains constant when ice changes into water and then further rises. Explain the observation with the help of graph.

When the ice is at 0 ° Celsius, the temperature of the system remains constant because the temperature (heat) is used up already to change the state of matter from solid to liquid. This phenomenon is known as latent heat of fusion
