Q.3) Read the passage. Once upon a time, there was a doctor; and his name was John Dolittle, He lived in a little town called, Puddleby-on-the-Marsh. All the folks knew him well. And when he walked down the street everyone would say, "There goes the Doctor!” And the dogs and the children would all run up and follow him. The house he lived in was quite small; but his garden was very large. His sister, Sarah Dolittle, was housekeeper for him. He was very fond of animals; he had rabbits, white mice, a squirrel and many others. But his favorite pets were DabDab the duck, Jip the dog, and the owl Too-Too. His sister Sarah Dolittle came to him and said, “John, how can you expect sick people to come and see you when you keep all these animals in the house? We are getting poorer every day.” So, as time went on, the Doctor got more and more animals; and the people who came to see him got less and less. He had no one left except the Cat's-meatMan, and he only got sick once a year at Christmas-time, when he used to give the Doctor sixpence for the medicine. He kept on getting still more pets; then he sold his piano and sold the brown suit he wore on Sundays. And now, when he walked down the street people would say, "There goes John Dolittle! There was a time when he was the best doctor but look at him now he hasn't any money and his stockings are full of holes!" a) Write a summary of the passage within 50-60 words. b) What do you think Dr. Dolittle should have done to have a better life? Write in 3 sentences.

As he was getting poorer and poorer he should have instead sold the other animals which weren't in much favour of him. And he should have kept the duck dog and the owl in another room until he would have attended to all his patients. In this way he could have had a better life

Hope it helps you

Ans a) There was once a doctor named John Dolittle and he lived in a little town named Puddleby-on-the-Marsh. He was a well known doctor and he lived with his  sister, Sarah Dolittle and she was a housekeeper for him. His house was small but his garden was huge and he was fond of animals and so he domesticated them. He had a lot of animals as pets. Once his sister told him that if he kept on increasing the number of pets then he would let his number of patients to decrease. But he  still kept on petting more animals and as his sister told him, he did not had much patients who came to him. He even sold his piano and a brown suit that he wore on Sundays. And then he walked down the streets and the people said that once he was a well known doctor but now he don't have a single penny.

Ans.b) Dr.Dolittle could have bought a  room for checking up the patients instead of checking them in his home with lots of animals. He should have listen to his sister and kept only few animals at home. He should not have spent his money only on animals he should have thought of his future.
