Q 4- A sold an article for Rs 420 at a gain of 5% and B sold an article for Rs 477
at a gain of 6%. Who get more profit and by how much?​

Profit P = 5%

Cost price = [100 / (100 + P% )] x S.P.

                 = [ 100 / (100 + 5)] * 420

                =  420 * 100 / 105   = 400

Profit = 5% of 400 = 400 * 5/100 = ₹ 20

B

Selling price SP = ₹ 477

Profit P = 6%

Cost price = [100 / (100 + P% )] x S.P.

                 = [ 100 / (100 + 6)] * 477

                =  477 * 100 / 106   = 450

Profit = 6% of 450 = 450 * 6/100 = ₹ 27

So, B made a profit of ₹ 27 and A made a profit of ₹ 20

So, B made a profit of (₹ 27 - ₹ 20)  ₹ 7 more than A
