a) First find the prime factors of 12 and 18.

Prime factors of 12 are:

2×2×3

Prime factors of 18 are:

2×3×3

Now, we in order to find the LCM of 12 and 18 , we need to take the common factors only once(Factors in bold) and also the uncommon ones.

So the LCM will be like this = 2 x 3 x 2 x 3 = 36.

b) First find prime factors of 20, 24 and 45.

Prime factors of 20 are:

2×2×5

Prime factors of 24 are:

2×2×2×3

Prime factors of 45 are:

3×3×5

The LCM of 20, 24 and 45 is the result of multiplying all prime factors the greatest number of times they occur in either number.

2×2×2×3×3×5

The LCM of 20, 24 and 45 is:

2×2×2×3×3×5 = 360
