Ingestion :
- The process of intake of food by mouth with the help of pseudopodia or villi ie. finger like projections used for engulfing the food.
- Ingestion in Amoeba takes place with the help of pseudopodia ( finger like extensions ) .
- It engulfs the food when it comes in contact with its cell surface.
Additional information :
- Now after this process, pseudopodia fuses over the food particle to form a food vacuole.
- Inside the food vacuole, complex food breaks into small soluble molecules and gets readily absorbed by the cytoplasm, ie. absorption.
- The undigested food material is removedby the cell membrane, which ruptures suddenly at any place and eliminates out the undigested food.
