clemmensen reaction - it is also as Wolff kishner reaction,, in this reaction the carbonyl group of aldehyde and ketone can be reduced to a methylene group on treatment with zinc amalgam and concentrated hydrochloric acid(clemmensen reaction). or with hydrazine followed by heating with sodium or potassium hydroxide in high boiling solvent such as ethylene glycol(Wolff kishner reaction)
