Force :

Force is needed to push , carry or throw objects , deform or break them .

We also experience the impact of force on us , like when moving object hits us or we are in a merry-go-round.

The correct notion of force was arrived at by Issac Newton in his famous laws of motion.

There exists several forces in nature . They are :

Gravitational Force :

It is the force of mutual attraction between any two objects by virtue of their masses.

Examples :

  • Sun's Gravitational attraction on earth keeps the Earth in its orbit around the sun.
  • weight of a body is the result of Gravitational attraction of earth acting on it .

Electromagnetic force :

It is the force between charged particles .

Examples :

  • when you comb your dry hair , the comb attracts bits of paper due to electricity induced in the comb.
  • Formation of Molecules is due to electrical interaction.

Magnetic forces :

Force between two magnets or a magnet and an iron object.

Examples :

  • In an electromagnet , the electric current through the coil of wire produces Magnetic induction.
  • moving charge produces Magnetic field.

Strong Nuclear Force :

Force exerted by the nucleus of the atom.
