Q. Give reasons for the following observation:

The smell of hot sizzling food reaches you several meters away, but to get the smell from cold food you have to go close.

Answer:

The smell of hot sizzling food reaches us even if we are several metres away because the food's smell mixes in air by diffusion as the hot air has lot of air gap... But can't get smell of cold food as the can't transfer the smell to air...

Hence, temperature difference causes change in rate of diffusion...
