Children learn their native language by just imitating the voices around them.
So, a ten year old child will also learn the words surrounding him/her.
And if it's not the native language he/she will just listen the words but not try to learn the meaning.But if it's some wrong or bad thing he/she will definitely try to learn it with detail. And yes a ten year child can speak very well to the people in the surrounding.Maybe he can also speak things without thinking about.Etc..
