1)As the Mughal governor of the Deccan provinces, Asaf Jah already had full control over its political and financial administration. Taking advantage of the turmoil in theDeccan and the competition amongst the court nobility, he gathered power in his hands and became the actual ruler of that region.

2)Burhan-ul-Mulk tried to reduce Mughal influence in the Awadh region by taking the following steps: He first of all reduced the number of office holders (jagirdars) appointed by the Mughals. He also reduced the size of jagirs, and appointed his own loyal servants to vacant positions.

3)In its wake, new social groups came into being: a working-class population, and middle classes made up of industrialists, businessmen, professionals. It was among the educated, liberal middle classes that ideas of national unity following the abolition of aristocratic privileges gained popularity.

4)Ijaradars were revenue farmers during the Mughal period. During the beginning of British rule in Bengal, the East India Company arrived at the revenue settlement called the Permanent settlements with the Ijaradars.
