The moon is made up of large dark volcanic rock and no offense the moon but the moon is not like the earth instead of a hot core the moon is completely cold or dead. It doesn't rotate or turn like the earth either and it faces us in the same direction. The reason that we can see the moon glow or shine because the light of the sun is reflecting off the moon surface and this makes visible to us.

The moon is actually made up of quite dark material so it only reflects about 12% of the light hits it. The amount of light gets bounce back to earth , also depends on time and place of the orbit of the moon. When the moons orbit is directly facing towards the earth we get large amount of light bouncing back because there's more of the face on the moon facing the earth.

THIS IS CALLED THE FULL MOON.
