Value of x is option (b) that is 11.

Mode of the above data is 9.

As per definition mode is the data whose frequency of occurrence is maximum that is the numerical value from a given set of data that has appeared maximum number of times or has maximum frequency.

So in above data mode is 9 so 9 should occur maximum times or its frequency must be highest.

In this 9, 4, 3, 2, 1, 4, 6, 9 the frequency of occurrence of 4 and 9 are equal and maximum that is 2 rest all have frequency 1.

To make mode 9 it should be with maximum frequency so we have:-

x - 2 = 9

=> x = 9+ 2

=> x = 11.

Hence value of x will be 11 so that above data has mode = 9.
