Latin is the parent of all the romlangs and is MUCH more grammar heavy. It's a very enjoyable language though. I've also noticed that there's more palatals in Latin than any of the romlangs, including Spanish.............

Latin had declension and Spanish has prepositions. Then, when in Latin you use a special ending like -us, -um, or -ae, in Spanish you use a free word before the word, like "de" (of), "a" (to).

Spanish has words from Arabic, Germanic and Native American origin. They are almost 10% of vocabulary. The word for "[olive] oil" in Latin was "oleum" (English "oil" comes from Old French "oile"), but in Spanish is "aceite", from Arabic "az-zayt", "the oil".
