Q: Rewrite the following chemical equations in the symbolic form and balance them.
(a) Sulfur Dioxide reacts with Hydrogen sulfide to form Sulfur & water.
( b) Silver reacts with Hydrochloric acid to form Silver chloride & hydrogen gas.​

(a)To balance H2S + SO2 = H2O + S you will need to be sure to count all of atoms on each side of the chemical equation. Once you know how many of each type of atom you can only change the coefficients (the numbers in front of atoms or compounds) to balance the equation for Hydrogen sulfide + Sulfur dioxide

(b) Silver does not react with HCl. This is because, like other reactive metals, silver cannot displace hydrogen from HCl. Silver is below hydrogen in the reactivity series and thus cannot displace it.
