Q. The dimensions (measurements) of a hall are
12 m, 4 m and 3 m, respectively. An ant starts at
one corner of the hall, travels only along the edges
and reaches a diagonally opposite corner, taking the
shortest possible route. Find the distance travelled by

Answer:

distance = 7m displacement = 5m

Explanation:

it is given that the ant has taken the shortest route

therefore, it will travel from the shortest edges ie. 4m and 3m

therefore it will travel 4m+3m= 7m

the diagonal distance= (4^2 + 3^2)^1/2

                                   = (16+9)^1/2

                                    =25^1/2

                                    =5m

hope it helps
