Q. The mass of a block made of certain material is
13.5 kg and its volume is 15 × 10-3 m3. Will the block float or sink
in water. Give reason for your answer.

mass = 13.5 kg
volume = 15×10^(-3) m³

density =  \frac{mass}{volume} = \frac{13.5}{15* 10^{-3} } =900 kg/m³

Density of water is 1000 kg/m³. Since its density is lower than the density of water, it will float in water.

mass of object =13.5 kg
volume of block= 0.015 m^3
block will float if the density of block is less the density of water
density = mass/volume=density of block=13.5/0.015=900kg/m^3
which is less than density of water. hence block will floaton the surface of water
