Q-two toy cars A and B are moving towards each other on a horizontal surface. The car A has mass of 60g and moves towards the right with a speed of 60cm/s. the car B has a mass of 100g moves toward the left with a speed of 20m/s . the 2 cars collide and get struck to each other . this indicates which law of motion ?

Answer:

The mass of car A, mA = 60 g = 0.06 kg

The speed of car A, vA = 60 cm/s = 0.6 m/s

The mass of car B, mB = 100 g = 0.1 kg

Speed of car B, vB = 20 m/s

Using law of conservation of momentum,

mAvA−→+mBvB−→=(mA+mB)v⃗ ⇒0.06×0.6−0.1×20=(0.06+0.1)v⃗ ⇒0.036−2=0.16v⃗ ⇒v⃗ =−1.9640.16=−12.275 m/sThe negative sign shows that the motion of the both the car is along the direction of initial motion of car B.Therefore, both the cars move towards left.
