Step-by-step explanation:

hello friend

let the required number be k

so our equation becomes f(x) = x²+x+4+k

it is given that x+1 is factor of our equation f(x) which means f(x) is completely divisible by x+1

so remainder will be zero

now x+1=0 such that x= -1

find f(-1) = 0

f(-1) = (-1)²+(-1)+4+k = 0

=> 1-1+4+k = 0

4+k = 0 so k = -4

so our equation becomes x²+x+4-4 = x²+x

so the required number is -4
