Answer:

Explanation: Answer:Kannauj located in the central Gangetic valley was a very important center for trade and commerce. Hence obviously all the dominant dynasties of the time fought for power and control over this area. The dominant dynasties of this time were Gurjara-Pratiharas, Palas and Rashtrakutas. Historians often describe this fight between the three dominant dynasties of 8th century as the tripartite struggle.

Palas ruled the eastern parts of India and Pratiharas dominated western India and Rashtrakutas controlled Deccan regions of India. The tripartite struggle ultimately ended in favor of Nagabhata II, Gurjara –Pratihara ruler.

Answer:

Kannauj was an important region and cause of struggle because:-

Explanation: Kanauj was a place where there was a tripartite struggle between the rashtrakutas, palas and the gujra-patihara.

This tripartite struggle shows us that Kanauj was an important place. It was believed that one who had control over Kannauj had control over whole of India. It is also believed that Kanauj is a important center for trade and commerce. It is also located on the Gangetic valley and was the part of Harsha dynasty. Despite of these things, the rashtrakutas, the palas and gujra patihara had a tripartite struggle on Kanauj among them.
