As it was mid of March, the sun was showering its hot rays briskly. I was returning home from my office by afternoon during the weekend. I was frustrated as I had to work during the weekend since I had other plans to satisfy my personal life. But as it was an emergency, I couldn’t avoid to make my presence and support for my team.
With all sorts of negative stuff rambling in my mind, I drove back to my home. I couldn’t control my thoughts. Also, I didn’t know the exact reason for what I was feeling so negative at that time.
While driving all the way back home, I was interrupted by an old woman, maybe in her early eighties. I slowed my bike and inquired her. She said that her house was in a few distances. As the sun was getting heavier, she said that her feet was getting terrible and take a step anymore.
I could feel her inconvenience due to old age and the sweating climate. So I decided to help her out of the situation. I asked her to perch on my bike. But as it was sloppy and also as she was too tired and feeble, she couldn’t do it. Still she tried her best but she couldn’t perch on my bike.
I thought it would be better to leave her back since she was weak and I had a weird thought what if she falls from the bike while I am driving. So I informed her that there would be a bus on the route she was standing and left the place. She didn’t say anything. She constrained with her silence.
After drifting a few meters away, I stopped my bike and returned to her. I asked her whether she could manage in the backseat while I am riding. She assured me saying that she can manage herself.
Within the next few minutes, she hopped in the backseat of my bike with the help of my shoulder support. I slowly moved through the streets to reach her destination. A few minutes later, we reached the place where she wanted to drop herself down.
With the help of my hands, she comforted herself down from my bike. Making myself stable, I looked at her to take my leave. Her eyes were completely wet, tears rolling down her skinny cheeks. Caressing my hair with her feeble hand, she thanked me with her trembling voice.
I couldn’t recognize what happened at that exact time. A strong positive vibe was felt by my soul, flowing through my entire body. Every bit of the negative shades I experienced on that day vanished within a fraction of seconds.
The way she looked into my eyes made me feel alive. Words can’t express that strange feeling I experienced from that old lady. At that exact moment, I felt that life was so simple. It’s all about our perspective on how we see it. And also I came to a point that our simple actions define more about our well-being.
And, we can’t neglect the fact that ‘Humanity is GOD.’
I didn’t thank that old lady for what she had done on that day for making me feel a bit more valuable and a better human. I wish I would have thanked her.
