Q1. An element A has electronic configuration 2,8,7 and an element B has electronic configuration 2,1. Find:

(i)valency of A and B

(ii) formula of the compound formed between A and B

Answer:

(i) valency of A and B = 8 - 7 = 1 & 1 respectively

( As , it's Chlorine with Atomic number 17 So , it will gain 1 electron in order to obtain noble gas configuration )

(ii) Formula of the compound formed between A and B : -

=> AB ( Li Cl Where , Li^+ & Cl^- )
