Answer:

if x=2 then

1) 2(2)+5(2)=9

4+10=9

here 14 is not equal to 9

therefore it's not a solution

for y=1

2x+5(1)=9

2x+5=9

5-9

x=2/4

=1/2

2) x=2 then,

2+y+4=0

8+y=0

y=0-8

= -8

rest you can do

i) LHS =

2 x 2 + 5 x 1

= 4 + 5 = 9

RHS = 9

=> LHS = RHS

So, x=2, y=1 is a solution of (i)

ii) LHS =

2 + 1 + 4

= 9

RHS = 0

=> LHS ≠ RHS

So, x=2, y=1 is not a solution of (ii)

(iii) LHS =

5/2x2 + 3 x 1

= 5/4 + 3

= 5+12/3 = 17/3

RHS = 14

=> LHS ≠ RHS

So, x=2, y=1 is not a solution of (iii)

Hope this helps you :)
