Holozoic nutrition:

Holozoic nutrition (Greek: holo-whole ; zoikos-of animals) is a type of heterotrophic nutrition that is characterized by the internalization (ingestion) and internal processing of gaseous, liquids or solid food particles. Most animals exhibit this kind of nutrition.

Ingestion:

the process of taking food, drink, or another substance into the body by swallowing or absorbing it.

Digestion:

Digestion is the breakdown of large insoluble food molecules into small water-soluble food molecules so that they can be absorbed into the watery blood plasma. In certain organisms, these smaller substances are absorbed through the small intestine into the blood stream.

Absorption:

Absorption is a condition in which something takes in another substance. The absorbent distributes the material it captures throughout whole and adsorbent only distributes it through the surface. The process of gas or liquid which penetrate into the body of adsorbent is commonly known as absorption.

Assimilation:

the absorption and digestion of food or nutrients by the body or any biological system.

Egestion:

Egestion is the act of excreting unusable or undigested material from a cell, as in the case of single-celled organisms, or from the digestive tract of multicellular animals.
