- portia prays that the person he likes among all the suitors i.e Bassanio to choose the correct casket
- she should never tell what to choose because it is the will of her death father and she need to obey them

- when he opens the particular casket he finds the portrait of protia and there by knows he has choosen the right casket
- she asks him to wait and think twice so that he could choose the right casket and spend sometime with her.
