Q1) Read the passage and answer the following questions: (5)
Forty years after Yuri Gagarin, in 1961, became the first man to rocket around space,
an American businessman, Denis Toto, became the world’s first space tourist, when he
blasted off on a trip to the international space station. Tito was on board a Russian
supply spaceship as a passenger.
The flight made Tito the first person as a space tourist. For this privilege, he had to pay
the hefty sum of twenty million dollars to the Russians. Holidays in space could
became a reality in the not-so-far-away future. For about 200,000 dollars, tourists will
get a three- day experience that will include medical checks and regulated diets. This
will ensure that people get into space without any health problems.
All this may sound like a fairy tale just now. You may think space tourism will not be
possible as it will be very expensive. But there was a time when computers were so
expensive to operate that only large offices could afford them.
a) Who was Yuri Gagarian ?
b) How much Tito pay for this trip ?
c) Whom did Tito pay for this trip ?
d) What did medical checks and regulated diets ensure about people?
e) From the text , find the words which mean the same as
i) Able to pay ii) Controlled
