\bigstar  Question 1  \bigstar

Two bodies A and B of equal masses are are kept at heights h and 2h, respectively. What will be the ratio of their potential energy ?

\infty  Answer 1  \infty

Body A

Mass = 'm'

g = 10 m/s

Height = 'h'

E\mathsf{_p} = mgh

Body B

Mass = 'm'

g = 10 m/s

Height = 2h

E\mathsf{_p} = mg × 2h

Dividing The Potential Energies of A and B

= \mathsf{\frac{mgh}{mg\ 2h}}

'm' gets cancelled.

'g' gets cancelled.

= \mathsf{\frac{h}{2h}}

'h' gets cancelled.

= \mathsf{\frac{1}{2}}

= 1 : 2

Therefore the ratio of the Potential energies of A and B is 1:2

\bigstar  Question 2  \bigstar

Is potential energy a vector quantity?

\infty  Answer 2  \infty

Before figuring out if Potential energy is a vector quantity or not, lets first get the meaning of Both.

Potential Energy

Potential energy is the energy possesed by a body, due to its change in position or shape.

Vector Quantity

A quantity which has both magnitude and direction is called vector quantity. Eg: Velocity, Weight.

Potential energy does not have direction,

Therefore Potential Energy is not a Vector Quantity. It is a Scalar Quantity.

\bigstar  Question 3  \bigstar

A ball of mass 200 g falls from a height of 5 m. What is its kinetic enrgy when it just reaches the ground? (g = 9.8 m/s2)

\infty  Answer 3 \infty

Given

m = 200g

   = 0.2 kg

g = 9.8 m/s

h = 5

Solution

E\mathsf{_p} = mgh

E\mathsf{_p} = 0.2 × 9.8 × 5

E\mathsf{_p} = 9.8 J

E\mathsf{_p} at the top most point = E\mathsf{_k} at the bottom most point.

[Law of Conservation of Energy ↑]

E\mathsf{_k} = 9.8 J

Answer:

hey here your answer :

Q.1 Two bodies A and B of equal masses are are kept at heights h and 2h, respectively. What will be the ratio of their potential energy

Answer:

Mass of first body = Mass of second body

ie : Ma= Mb

Heights = h and 2h respectively

Now :

 \frac{p.ea}{p.eb}

 =  \frac{mgh}{mg2h}

 =  \frac{1}{2}

=1:2

Q.2 Is quantity potential energy a vector?

Answer:

Potential energy is a scalar quantity as it has magnitude only.

Q.3 A ball of mass 200 g falls from a height of 5 m. What is its kinetic enrgy when it just reaches the ground? (g = 9.8 m/s2)

 e_{p} = mgh

 e_{p} = 0.2 \times 9.8 \times 5

 e_{p} =9.8 j

law conversation of energy

 e_{k} = 9.8j
