I think that the boy was very brave. It was a really good story. I think that the story was more about bravery than luck. If the boy hadn't bravely started to beat the crocodile, then he would have never gotten out of the mess.

In the end, the boy saved himself. The boy was very brave, so he started to beat the crocodile up until the crocodile let the boy go. No one else saved him because no one heard him when he shouted, and neither was anyone else there, apart from the boy's friend.
