Functions of General Assembly:

  1. Consider and approve the United Nations budget and establish the financial assessments of Member States
  2. Elect the non-permanent members of the Security Council and the members of other United Nations councils and organs and, on the recommendation of the Security Council, appoint the Secretary General;
  3. Makeup recommendations for the peaceful settlement of any situation that might impair friendly relations among countries;

Functions of Security Council:

  1. Consider reports from the Security Council and other United Nations organs.
  2. The Security Council has primary responsibility, under the United Nations Charter, for the maintenance of international peace and security.
  3. It is for the Security Council to determine when and where a UN Peacekeeping operation should be deployed.

Functions of UNICEF:

  1. It advocates for and gives financial and technical support to national- and community-based education and intervention programmes on health care and nutrition.
  2. Improving children’s developmental readiness for school, especially for excluded children and among disadvantaged groups, via community-sponsored childhood education and health initiatives.
  3. It also works via advocacy and community outreach to help governments, communities, and families support children orphaned by HIV/AIDS.

Functions of UNESCO:

  1. It runs a great number of broad scientific projects, primarily within fundamental research, involving numerous member countries.
  2. Within the natural sciences, Unesco efforts are organised under the title 'Environment and Sustainable Development'
  3. One of its principles "Prospective studies" seeks to define what forms of education, science, culture and communication are needed for tomorrow's world.
