Explanation:

➙x+1/x-1= 5/4

Cross Multiply to both sides

x+1 gets Multiply with 4 and x-1 gets Multiply with 5

➙4(x+1)=5(x-1)

Expanding the terms and opening the brackets

➙4x+4= 5x-5

Making Variable terms together and constant term together:

solve for x

➙4x-5x+4=-5

Solve for constant

➙-x= -5-4

➙-x= -9

since, negative values on both sides so,it (-) sign gets cancelled.

x= 9

Check:

➙x+1/x-1=5/4

Taking LHS

➙9+1/9-1

➙10/8= 5/4

Since,LHS = RHS (Verified)
