GiveN :

  • Initial velocity (u) = 0 km/h
  • Final velocity (v) = 90 km/h
  • Time interval (t) = 10 mins

To FinD :

  • Acceleration of the train

SolutioN :

We are given that a train starts from rest it means initial velocity will be 0 km/h or 0 m/s. And it gains velocity of 90 km/h in 10 mins.

Convert Velocity into m/s by multiplying it by 5/18

⇒Final Velocity (v) = 90 * 5/18

⇒Final velocity (v) = 25

Final Velocity of train is 25 m/s

Convert time into seconds by multiplying it by 60

⇒Time = 10 mins

⇒Time = 10 * 60

⇒Time = 600 seconds

Time taken by train to reach velocity of 90km/h is 600 s.

Now, use 1st equation of motion for calculating acceleration :

⇒v = u + at

⇒25 = 0 + a * 600

⇒600a = 25

⇒a = 25/600

⇒a = 0.04166

⇒a ≈ 0.041

Acceleration of train is 0.041 m/s² (approx.)
