Let x be the number of winners.

Then the number of participants who do not win is given as (36 – x)

The prize money given to winners = Rs ( 500x)

The prize money given to (36 – x) participants is = Rs 100

According to the given data, the total prize money distributed = Rs 4800

Therefore, 500x + 100(36 – x) = 4800

500x + 3600 - 100x = 4800

400x + 3600 = 4800

400x = 4800 - 3600

400x = 1200

x = 1200/400

x = 3

Therefore, the number of winners is 3.

Therefore, the number of winners is 3. the number of participants is 33.
