Answer:

The boiling point of a liquid increases by addition of impurities to it. If common salt is added to water it boils at a temperature higher than 100°C. Hence, we add salt while cooking pulses, then provide sufficient heat energy to its contents before boiling and so the cooking becomes easier and faster.
