Jute is called golden fibre for the following reasons -
- The visual appearance of the jute is shiny and golden brown in colour.
- The jute has a very high cash value in the consumer market, just like the gold.
- Both the appearance and value of jute is similar to actual gold. That's why, it's known as the golden fibre.
Uses of jute :
- Jute fibre is hugely used for making strong and durable ropes.
- Sacks, bags and many other things are made from the jute fibre.
Jute is loosing it's market for the following reasons -
- The arrival of cheaper and more durable synthetic fibres.
- The jute production needs a complete agricultural session and that's why it somehow lacks to fulfil the high market demand in time.
- Jute is a biodegradable substance which is both a good and a bad thing. The unwanted decomposition of jute material is one reason for the decreasing demand of jute.
