let the cost price of washing machine be' Rs x'
loss = 5 % of C.P = 5 % of x
= 5 / 100 × x = 0.05 x
selling price of washing machine
= Rs1045
C.P - loss = 1045
x - 0.05 x = 1045
x( 1 - 0.05 ) = 1045
0.95 x = 1045
x = Rs Rs 1100 = cost price
