Hi ,

Let p( x ) = x³ - 6x² - 15x + 80

g( x ) = x² + x - 12

x² + x - 12 ) x³ - 6x² - 15x + 80(x - 7
**************x³ + x² - 12x
_______________________
*****************-7x² - 3x + 80
**************** -7x² - 7x + 84
_______________________
********************( 4x - 4 )

Now ,

p( x ) is divided by g( x ) the

remainder is ( 4x - 4 )

Therefore ,

We have to subtract remainder

from p ( x ) so that g ( x ) is a factor

of p ( x ).

I hope this helps you.
