Answer:

Momentum The quantity of motion possessed by a moving body is known as momentum of the body.

Momentum of an object of mass m moving with a velocity v is the product of it.

It is denoted by p

p = mv

Its SI unit is kg-ms-1.

As from Newton’s llnd law, rate of change of momentum is equal to force applied.

a) the product of mass and velocity

formula:-

m × v

where, m is mass and v is velocity.

b) Since weight of cricket ball is more than that of tennis ball thus momentum of a moving cricket ball is more than a moving tennis ball as momentum is directly proportional to mass of object . Thus to stop the cricket ball requires more force than that of tennis ball.

c) Given:-

bullet : mass (m) = 0.02kg or 2/100 kg

velocity(v)= 200m/s

gun : mass (M) = 7.5 kg or 75/10 kg

velocity (V) = ?

Remember

V = -vm/M

note : '-' sign represents the opposite to the direction to the bullet.

( putting all the values in the formula )

V = - 200 × 2/100 ÷ 75/10

V = 4 ÷ 7.5

V = 0.53 m/s
