(a) Its acceleration: 2.5 m/s².

(b) Distance covered by it in 10 seconds: 275 m.

Given - Velocity and time

Find - Acceleration and distance

Solution - The acceleration and distance can be calculated by using equation of motion. Out of three equation of motions, the one to be used for calculation depends upon the provided values. The equation to be used is given below -

v = u + at and S = ut + 1/2at²

Converting initial and final velocity to m/s.

Initial velocity = 15 m/s

Final velocity = 40 m/s

Finding acceleration by keeping the values in formula-

v = u + at

a =  \frac{40 - 15}{10}

Performing subtraction and Division

a =  \frac{25}{10}

a = 2.5 m/s²

Finding distance covered -

S = ut + 1/2at²

S = 15 \times 10 +  \frac{1}{2}  \times 2.5 \times  {10}^{2}

S = 150 + 125

S = 275 \: m

Hence, acceleration is 2.5 m/s² and distance covered is 275 m.
